A collection of cherished fabrics are just one memento of a childhood spent in the artistic wonderland of Southeast Asia, a culture that left me with many treasured memories. Some of my warmest recollections are trips with my parents to the fabric houses in Bangkok and Hong Kong where I was inspired by the colors, prints, and profusion of products fabricated from the most exquisite textiles in the world. These experiences stirred my creativity as a child and continue to do so today. With a BFA in graphic design from Ringling College of Art and Design, I've worked for the past 20 years in publishing, advertising agencies, design studios and eventually as a freelance designer. I've worked on a variety of design projects in industries from real estate and resort development to boating and agriculture.
I yearned for more tactile arts; pushing paint around, sketching, crafting, sewing and decorating. My passion for textile design was reignited after designing fabrics for a resort apparel company. With determination and a lot of hard work, a new door opened at Northcott - I'm so grateful and excited that they have invited me in.
My creative inspiration comes from a passion for nature, decorative art, history and travel, combined with the collection of ideas and inspiration from around the world. It has given my work a “multi-cultural nature”, a colorful, eclectic fusion of “life”, spun with a little bit of luxury. I think my debut collection "Duchess" is just that.
